After eight years without a personal kart, a fresh Energy Eclipse chassis and a 2013 KTM 300 EXC were fitted together, with the engine modified to suit the chassis. Compared with 250cc TM karts, service intervals are much longer than one hour per piston. The summer goal was a 40 second lap at the home track driven since age seven. The surface was no longer as fresh and smooth as ten years earlier, so some corners could not be taken as they once were. Early summer gear-shift trouble traced to one soft spring in the gear mechanism. After that, chassis setup work continued, and later in the summer the engine made more power and driveability improved. An outlaw kart meeting was held on 21 September 2013. The clip is from the first practice after the track began to dry, then rain returned. Plans looked ahead to 2014.
