Short intro to the Briggs & Stratton LO206 karting box-stock engine: buy the engine out of the box and race, yet engines are not equal after builder work and become drastically faster. The hardest cheat to perform and catch cannot be seen or heard; the camshaft is twisted to a more favorable position, which 2023 rules allow. At the first cam number at .006 you are allowed 8 degrees of variance and other numbers 4-8 degrees also, so bend the cam on the negative side not advanced. Builders have done this since the flathead days. A simple fix would tighten rules to 1/2 degree of the stock cam and release cam center lines so the twist game would be over. Briggs claims to take 3600 points on each cam so manufactured parts are the same; the room is 4-8 degrees in the rules and only 4 degrees is needed for max performance. On 1-15-2023 Briggs released a new rule that they have all the engine numbers and the cams that came in each engine and will release them to tech officials, but no tech official spoken with has them or can get them. The rules need to change or the tools will be developed so everyone can.
