On January 1, 2011 in Emma, Missouri, this Winter Classic kart race video shows an Infinity Epic kart in Clone Heavy. The driver was running about 8th or 9th of 13 or 14 still in the race, with only a couple of laps left, when the red number 15 kart slammed into the back as traffic was coming up. That hit bent the bumper and sent the kart into the back of Eric Benson's kart. The impact busted the fiberglass nose, bent the inside of the left front wheel, and knocked the tire off the inside wheel's bead. Loss of steering sent the kart into the wall about halfway down the front straightaway, busting the board along the wall and spinning 180 degrees. A kart from behind avoided as well as it could but still ran over the right side, ripping the air filter off and bending the header straight down, and thankfully missed the driver. Injuries were a bruised leg, a couple of scrapes, bruised chest, bruised stomach, sour neck, and a very bruised tailbone. The driver who rammed had been leading but was spun out and sent to the back, and was not only hitting this kart in that race. The race promoter argued that he was a good driver; the filmed driver disagreed, saying a good driver does not ram into people. After the race the filmed driver tracked him down, lost his temper, and later apologized. The other driver said that if he was the one who hit, he was sorry. The video is meant as a demonstration of what rough driving does to people and karts.
