Brisk Open-fire Premium Multi-spark plugs are a patented design with no traditional J-gap ground electrode, instead two auxiliary ring electrodes on the ceramic that split one large gap into three series gaps so the spark jumps three times from center electrode to the shell, yielding three plasma sparks per conventional spark and, with multi-spark ignitions such as Accel, Crane, Mallory or MSD, nine sparks per primary pulse until about 3,000 RPM then still three sparks, unlike parallel multi-ground plugs that fire only one gap. They need not be indexed, sparks can occur anywhere on a 360 degree perimeter at the lowest resistance mixture, and they are not to be confused with ordinary multi-ground plugs.
