Seat position on a new OTK kart
I've been looking into OTK chassis and how they tend to put you in a more laid-back seat angle compared with some other karts that sit you more upright. From what I understand the reclined position shifts how your weight loads the chassis and can change the feel through the wheel a bit, but tbh I'm still fuzzy on what that actually means once you're on track. Curious what people notice when they've driven both styles. Does the laid-back seat mainly affect how quickly you can load the front in a turn, or is it more about overall comfort and visibility?

A more reclined seat lowers the driver's center of gravity, which reduces the vertical load variation that contributes to hopping on bumpy or high-grip surfaces. The tradeoff is a higher polar moment of inertia: mass is distributed farther along the longitudinal axis, so the chassis resists yaw acceleration and rotates into the corner more slowly than with an upright seating position. That change in rotational inertia is what most drivers notice as a difference in how quickly the front can be loaded, rather than a pure comfort or visibility effect.
The reclined posture also tucks the torso out of the airflow, which is a small but real aerodynamic benefit on faster tracks. For OTK chassis the factory setup guide already specifies a baseline seat placement that accounts for these effects; start there and make only small adjustments for reach and personal preference.
