Sunday night I still have to pack the kart and I'm not staying up waiting for the video to finish. What editing program are you using right now that can put speed and a lap counter on a YouTube clip without eating the whole evening?
If the overlay only works if you buy another GPS box I will skip it, the time is better spent on the chassis than fighting software on a laptop that lives in the trailer.

RaceRender puts speed and a lap count on the clip from GPS already in the file or from a logger you already run, no extra box. Free DaVinci Resolve will cut and export for YouTube after, it has no overlay tools. Kick the render off and walk away, the overlay pass is quick and a weak trailer laptop just makes the export crawl.

Stream-copy cutters finish in seconds because they never decode the frames. A speed or lap overlay has to decode every frame, composite the graphics, and re-encode, which is the pass that actually consumes the evening.
Speed is velocity from a position-time log, so a camera that already wrote GPS into the file removes the need for a second box. That trace is typically adequate for an on-screen speed readout and not for setup work. A lap count is not in the GPS field. Overlay tools derive it by placing a start-finish line on the map and counting crossings, or you import splits from whatever already times the session.
