The ins and outs of racing in the rain

First thing after a rain run is the wheel bearings not a rinse of the frame. Water in there will have the kart pulling by the next dry day if you don't pack them again that night. I keep hearing wet laps make you smoother when its dry, but I'm not sure that holds once you already know how to be easy on the throttle. Is the extra workshop time actually worth a set of rain tires?
