No gauge while racing

No EGT is the real problem, not a missing lap display. A 2-stroke scores a piston if you go lean before you notice it in the chassis. I'm heading into a race weekend with a dead logger. Plug color after practice is after the fact. How do you keep the needle off the lean side with no temp reading at all?
