I can't get a LO206 Head Gasket to last
Repeated LO206 gasket failures are decided by whether the head face is still flat. Heat concentrates on the header side and that is where these heads go out of true. You cannot mill them in this class, so another gasket is wasted money once the surface has moved.
I need to choose between a replacement head and a complete new engine. A fresh head still sits in the same heat path, so I do not see it lasting unless that flange area is handled differently. Has the block deck been as much of a factor for anyone, or does a new head usually stop the cycle?
