How do you run a club series that lasts?

The question I hear most often about keeping a local series going is not whether the rules binder is complete. It is whether race weekends feel like a standing appointment people can plan around, and whether the paddock still feels like a club rather than a paid session. That is usually where the conversation starts, even when opinions differ on what actually holds attendance. Newer members tend to assume the fix is more classes or a bigger social calendar. What I would like to hear from other clubs is which piece really decides whether people come back the next season. The part that often gets missed is whether the same few people are still doing entries, tech, and the newsletter, because a series that cannot hand those jobs off will thin out even when the racing itself is popular. If you have kept a local series running for a stretch of years, what has mattered most on that front, and under what conditions has the usual advice failed?
